VETERINARIAN

Dr. Katie Springer

Dr. Katie Springer was born and raised in center city Philadelphia and is very happy to have returned home. Dr. Katie graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 after earning a B.S. from Bowdoin College. Following veterinary school, Dr. Katie completed a rotating internship in small animal Surgery and Internal Medicine at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Charlotte, NC. Thereafter, she continued to work at the same practice as an emergency veterinarian for several years until she and her husband, Dr. Lew Springer, returned to the Philadelphia area. Dr. Katie spends her free time with Lew, their two little girls and little boy and their two dogs (Heidi and Molly) and three cats (Hobbes, Sassafras and Nemo). They are perpetually in pursuit of great adventures and they love cooking, reading, painting and traveling together.

Dr. James “Lew” Springer

Dr. Lew Springer graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 after earning a B.S. in Microbiology. Following veterinary school, Dr. Lew then completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he met his soon-to-be wife, Katie. Dr. Lew worked in a busy general practice in Charlotte, NC for about 5 years before returning to the Philadelphia area. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lew enjoys sports, most any outdoor activity, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Ashley Johnson

Ashley was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Chester County, PA. She attended college at Sonoma State University in California, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor’s in Science. After 12 years on the West Coast, her journey ultimately brought her back to Pennsylvania, where she found an avenue in the veterinary field, to fulfill both her love for animals and her interest in medicine. Her experience as a technician spans nearly a decade and she can’t wait to meet your pets! Outside of work you can find Ashley exploring life in nature, biking, hiking, reclining in her hammock and spending time with her family and two cats, Bobo and Frodo.

PRACTICE MANAGER

Cindy Mashaintonio

Cindy has spent her entire career in Client Service/Office Administration, but several years ago, Cindy decided to use her experience and apply it to something she is really passionate about: animals. And she has never looked back! She was thrilled when asked to join the Havertown Animal Hospital team prior to its opening in June 2021. When not at work, Cindy loves spending time with her family and her three dogs, Jax, Pip, and Ellie

Mary Lyle

Born and raised in Bucks County, PA, Mary has always had a passion for animals and medicine. As a child, they volunteered at local animal shelters and worked as a dog walker. After graduating high school, Mary studied at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr to become a veterinary technician. During the summers, they worked as a veterinary assistant at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital in the nursing wards. Having completed their in-the-classroom education, they will gain clinical experience at the University of Pennsylvania Ryan Hospital and New Bolton Farms. With a love for surgery, Mary aspires to become a scrub nurse. They enjoy spending time with their Pitbull, Jemma, making dinner for friends, going to concerts, and spending time in nature. They love being a part of the Havertown family!

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

India Staton

India was born in Philadelphia, PA. She loves all types of animals and volunteers on the weekends at the PSPCA on Erie Ave taking care of the animals and helping them find their forever homes. India decided to work in the veterinary field to help further develop her clinical skills to learn firsthand alternative and preventive medical care. Overall, she would like the chance to provide the excellent care that pets deserve. When not at work she loves spending time with her dog Chessie, eating, watching horror movies, or spending time with friends.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Catherine James

Catherine is a Roxborough native and animal lover who always dreamed of working in veterinary medicine. She grew up around horses, was part of the Temple Equestrian Team, and worked as a horse riding instructor until graduating from Temple with a Biology/Pre-Vet degree in 2019. That’s when she decided to work with small animals! She became the Lead Pet Caregiver for a Fear Free Certified Pet Care company in Manayunk where she focused on educating others about Fear Free training methods and then excitedly entered the vet field as a technician at the start of 2021. She has been in love with it ever since! Outside of work, Catherine enjoys spending time with her fiancé Justin and their Beagle Scout, rabbit Bandit, and tarantula Ernie. If she’s not playing video games, sports, or Magic the Gathering, you’ll find her outside exploring nature. She is so excited to be part of the Havertown family!

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Brian Orr

Dr. Brian Orr grew up on a small farm in rural Western Pennsylvania, where he developed a passion for animals and nature. He graduated, with Honors, from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Bioscience and then went on to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Dr. Orr has special interests in Internal Medicine and Soft Tissue Surgery, as well as Dermatology. Dr. Orr currently resides in Lower Merion with his family, which includes his 2 wonderful feline companions, Kipren and Chaton. He enjoys hiking, fishing, backyard birding, and almost anything involving nature.

Bridget Glinski

Bridget has always loved animals and knew at an early age she wanted to make it her goal to work with them.  She began working at small animal practices on the main line while she attended Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, where she studied to become a veterinary technician, received her certification, and graduated in 2010.  She worked in veterinary medicine for 10 years, then took a slight detour to become a certified yoga teacher, another one of her other passions. With things coming full circle, she is now back as a technician at Havertown animal hospital. Bridget currently lives in Phoenixville with her husband, John, her dog, Cash, and two cats, Viggo and Wally.  In her spare time, you can catch her on her yoga mat, hiking, kayaking, cross-training, cooking, exploring new restaurants, and traveling to wherever her wanderlust takes her.

Michelle Reif

Michelle was born and raised in Collingdale, PA, and graduated from Temple University with a B.A. During college, she began work in animal care, starting a career that has spanned 10 years and even grew to include dog training. Most recently, her career path has led her to join the Havertown Animal Hospital team in order to help provide pets and pet parents with the utmost care and comfort. At home, Michelle enjoys hanging out with her dogs Magnus and Olympus, cat Cassius, and chinchilla Hermes. Other than that, she enjoys keeping up her practice in studio arts.

Dia Cornish

Dia was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, and has always been passionate about animals. She attended Roanoke College and earned a Bachelor of Arts. While in college, she volunteered at Healing Strides of Virginia and worked as an Animal Caretaker for Human-Animal Partners after graduation. Dia then earned her Master of Arts degree focusing on digital curation and collections while interning with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and working on an animal art project at the National Zoo. Her journey eventually brought her to Havertown Animal Hospital, where she works with small animals. When she's not at work, she enjoys reading, art, and spending time with her two cats, Nigel and Oreo, and her dog, Reina.

Cristina Rossi

Born and raised in Warrington Bucks County PA, Cristina always had a passion for animals. Since she was a little girl she was the one taking in wildlife from her backyard, trying to nurse animals back to health, and would take them to the vet. Cristina’s first cat Bella stole her heart and made her fall in love with animals. Cristina went to Harcum College and received her certification in Veterinary Nursing in 2019. Cristina has a cat named Bridgette, a yorkie named Benny, a shihtzu named Lucky, and a french bulldog named Leo. Cristina enjoys spending time outdoors (on a beach if possible), working out and crocheting

Dr. Linda Bender

Dr. Linda Bender grew up in Lancaster County, PA, and graduated from Bucknell University with a B.A. in International Relations. She lived in Princeton, NJ, and then New York City where she worked in the investment banking field. Realizing her true passion was animals, she enrolled at Hunter College, where she completed prerequisite courses before applying to veterinary school. Dr. Bender graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She worked at The Cat Doctor in Philadelphia for two years and at Media Veterinary Hospital for 21 years. In 2012, Dr. Bender earned her Veterinary Acupuncturist Certification from The Chi Institute in Florida. She currently resides in Ardmore with her husband, son, and cats, Neville and Josie. She enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, and going to concerts.

Rachael DelGiorno

Rachael, originally from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, has always had pets except during her time at Rosemont College for her BA in Biology. Her passion for veterinary medicine blossomed while working at Providence Animal Center, where she adopted Niro, an orange cat without eyes. Recently, she rescued another cat, Mim, from the woods in West Philly. Apart from her love for animals, Rachael enjoys crafts, painting, and quality time with her partner, Seth. Despite working at two other veterinary hospitals after Providence, she quickly fell in love with the pets and people at Havertown Animal Hospital.

RECEPTIONIST

Cessily Porrini

Cessily has always had a natural compassion for animals, often sneaking strays into the house, bringing them food, and nursing them back to health. About five years ago, she began her journey into veterinary medicine, working full-time as a tech and eventually becoming the manager of the practice before it closed. She learned a lot about the veterinary world and took on significant responsibilities. Enjoying tech work the most, she now applies her tech knowledge and administration skills at Havertown Animal Hospital. Outside of work, Cessily spends as much time as possible with her dogs, Zig and Kaia, going on prayer walks and praising Jesus.
